Reduce Acne Scars Through Diet

If you have to deal with acne redness and scars, especially, mild to moderate acne, the best solution to employ is to use home remedies, as there are several effective and proven acne scar removal remedies.

Many of these are actually derived from the ancient Indian Ayurveda medical science while some are based on simple holistic kitchen ingredients.

Causes Of Acne Scars

Acne can be non-Inflammatory or inflammatory. While whiteheads and blackheads usually fall under the non-inflammatory type, papules, pustules, nodules, and cysts are the inflammatory types of acne.

Inflammatory acne usually tends to leave behind scars and marks, and inflamed acne blemishes occur when your skin pores become inflated as a result of excess oil, dead cells, and bacteria clogging them.

This typically leads to the swelling of the pores, which then causes the follicle walls to expand and break or burst. If this break occurs close to the surface of your skin, the resulting acne lesion is considered minor and heals quickly, but if the break on the follicle is deep, the lesion will be more severe, and the infection may leak out into the dermis, destroying healthy skin tissues.

Dietary Remedies To Remove Acne Scars

According to Ayurveda, acne is a result of excess acidity in the body. Thus, you must eat acid reducing foods or an alkaline diet, if you are to reduce your acne.

This acid reducing diet mainly comprises of fruits and vegetables, especially, cruciferous vegetables like cabbage, broccoli etc…

Excess acidity in the body is also commonly caused by environmental factors or life changes that lead to stress as well as hormonal disturbances etc.

Sometimes, bacterial infections could cause excess acidity, and the exposure to certain chemicals found in cosmetics, or too much of sun can also lead to acne and acne scars.

Thus, non-acidic diets are recommended by Aurvedic doctors, and this diet includes non-spicy foods.

One must also strictly avoid nicotine and alcohol, and must also stay away from oily, fermented and sugary foods.

Some Ayruvedic herbs that reduce acne and clear up the skin include: Shatavari (asparagus), Kutki(Picrorhiza kurroa) and Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) also called Amrit.

These are highly valued and extremely cooling ingredients and can help balance excess pitta in the body. They are readily available in the Indian stores, and also have plethora of health benefits apart from clearing acne scars.

Simply make a mixture of these three herbal powders, (1/4 tsp each) and have it 2-3 times a day.
